Good news from Lampedusa: the island's hotspot has been shut following reports of the migrants' terrible living conditions. The foreign and Italian press have covered extensively the migrants' accounts and have urged to rethink the way we "welcome" refugees. A 22-year-old Eritrean has died of malnutrition on arrival in Pozzallo, while the ship that transported him, the ProActiva Open Arms, carrying over 200 rescued migrants, has been impounded on charges of abetting illegal immigration, after being blocked for over 24 hours off the Libyan coast.
