Rome: the invisibles of Piazzale Spadolini

Piazzale Spadolini was an empty space, then it was turned into a parking lot in 2011, when the railway station was renovated. It is now a hub for those travelling on the underground or trains, who leave their cars parked there. The area was isolated even before the Covid-19 emergency, and it is practically invisible now: much like those living there, at least for institutions. Serena Chiodo and Valerio Muscella visited the people who are forced to take shelter around Tiburtina railway station and the volunteers who help them.

Regularisation of migrants. One step forward, but much more could be done

Libya, quarantine under the bombs

Relatively few coronavirus cases have been recorded in Libya, but the conflict between the two factions that keep fighting for control over the North African country does not seem to be scaling down: on the past 6th of April, the Al Khadra hospital – chosen by the Government of National Accord to treat Covid-19 patients – was bombed by Haftar’s troops. The country portrayed by Nancy Porsia in her second reportage is governed by militias and foreign players, and unity and efforts for collective health appear to be way less important than the conquest of power.
